Greatest of All Time?

The American Mustache Institute has named former first baseman Keith Hernandez as the Top Sports Mustache of All Time. While we can’t really argue with their decision (he does have an epic ’stache and is in our own Hall of Legends), it caused the Gentlemen to think, who else would make the top 10 list in the sports ’stache category? Post your nominations in the comments below …

That’s What She Said

The movement has now officially hit the teenage girl’s apparel market. And as we all know, that’s where every great movement begins …

Public Servants, Unite

RELEVANT Podcast listener Clayton Bell sent us this email:

Sitting in the barber’s chair yesterday, I noticed that a mustached firefighter on the television (no, not standing ON the TV) was recounting during one of those A&E-type shows how he’d rescued someone from a burning house. It occurred to me that we’d left out a category from the “OK to have a mustache crowd”: public servants/first responders. As soon as this revelation hit me, a Florida Highway Patrol Officer walked to in get his hair cut with…you guessed it, a mustache! The guy in the seat next to me: mustache! And while he wasn’t a cop, his son was training to be a FHP officer, which is close enough. So I’ve got mustache cop, mustache father of cop, mustache fireman on the TV, and another guy waiting in line with a mustache, who, while not any kind of officer, did have a belt buckle with more than five words on it (one of which was “UZI”), so that’s gotta count for something!

Mustache and the Geek

Remember Nate from last season’s Beauty and the Geek? (He was the guy who sang in a Star Wars tribute band.) Well, he’s created a music video called “Ballad of the Beard.” Tagline? “Have you ever shaved your beard into a mustache and then wondered if that was the right thing to do?” I think we all know the answer to that one …

Mustache Cred

You know mustaches are back on the fast track to mainstream credibility when the Time magazine does a photo essay on them. Behold portraits of this year’s World Beard and Mustache Championship winners. Be warned: They’re incredible …

Welcome to the Revolution

You’ve heard about it on the RELEVANT Podcast, and now it’s here: the official launch of the RELEVANT Gentleman’s Society website. This is still very much a work in progress, but feel free to browse around and kick the tires. You can check out our purpose, read our creed (complete with canons to live by), be absolutely awe-struck by our Hall of Legends, browse member mustache photos (and post your own) and more. Don’t forget to register with the website to become an official member of the Society—complete with message board-posting privileges! That’s right, we said posting privileges, folks.

And let’s keep it classy, mustache wearers. Remember who you are.
